Elder Martin is Training a new Elder and being transferred to a new area

Elder Martin was able to email us some things about this transfer, but he still has no clue where he is going.... He was sad to be leaving the Airdrie 3rd Ward, he felt things were really picking up and he loved the Members of the ward, so it was kind of a blow to him that he was leaving his first area, I am sure he will keep doing well if he keeps being obedient and turns to Heavenly Father for guidance for himself and his companion in a new area.

Elder Martin wrote:

"I am very anxious to be going to the new area, and train, all I know right now is that I will be going down to the south, I will email you more as soon as I can about where, and who my comp is, Thank you mom and dad for all of your support and good words you have to say and faith that you have in me, I had a pretty long prayer last night pretty much stating to my father and heaven that you know how I feel so please just give me the strength and ability to be able to serve you while I train my new companion as best I can, and just a warm feeling of love over came me and I was more at peace with this whole scenario."

Elder Martins last week with Elder Miner before he goes home....

Last weeks success dad was I believe what I had written you about Francis and how we met, to add to him with what happened this week we went over lesson 2 the plan of salvation and we felt like a light went off in his head, when first he asked us the question of does it talk in the bible of Christ coming to America and we said yes in John 10:16 16 "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be onefold, and one shepherd." and then we asked him if he had faith that that was really the case, he  said yes but then asked if he visited them what about Africa? (remember he's from Cameroon) We then turned to 3rd Nephi 16:1-3  1 And verily, verily, I say unto you that I have other sheep, which are not of this land, neither of the land of Jerusalem, neither in any parts of that land round about whither I have been to minister.2 For they of whom I speak are they who have not as yet heard my voice; neither have I at any time manifested myself unto them. 3 But I have received a commandment of the Father that I shall go unto them, and that they shall hear my voice, and shall be numbered among my sheep, that there may be one fold and one shepherd; therefore I go to show myself unto them.

After Elder Miner and I had Francis read this a hush came into the room. I then asked Francis "After reading this do you have faith in the lord Jesus Christ that Joseph Smith Is a Prophet that was called of God to restore His church on Earth" Francis said yes, I proceeded to ask him "Then in believing that do you believe that God would put a Prophet on Earth in this day in age to still talk and receive Revelation for us?" Francis again said yes. Then in went quiet again and the spirit prompted me to ask a third question, "Francis with having this knowledge will you then strive to become like your Savior Jesus Christ and prepare yourself to enter into the waters of Baptism" and again he said yes! then he proceeded to say, "In all my studies and religious reading I have never come across a book or scriptures that explain where Jesus has been and if he visited Africa, and now you have showed me this, no it doesn't say Africa specifically but it pretty much leads you to think that's where he also went"

Sooo that was a huge break through this week, and then we get transferred woooohooo haha, that's ok the lord will put good missionaries here and not let him fall!

Last night Elder Miner and I went to Brother Mathews (less Active) and said goodbye to him and hope to see him in two years and before we left he showed us this Canadian Flag that had Missionary signings on it, but only a few and he told us that only the special missionaries that have brought joy to our family can sign this, so that was a really privileged thing :) and then he proceeded to give me a bottle of Chipoltle Tabasco that his wife brought back from the states! it was awesome haha, when dad sent me one, I took it to his place and showed him it, because we both love spice and I said this isn't spicy, but has a nice flavor! I'm going to miss that family, but will never forget about them, and we will just have to stop by and see them when you come pick me up! :)

I hope this is a good blog entry for you dad, it was a really awesome one in my book if you ask me! haha Love you both so very much!

Classic Elder Martin

Classic Car Show in Airdrie that Elder Martin came across

Elder Martin does like the classics

So this week was pretty sweet started with exchanges from Tuesday till Thursday morning with Elder Young. We managed to get a few less active member lessons taught but still non really committed to anything which is sad. Then Elder Miner and I on Thursday after we exchanged back went out to Acme to check up older potential investigators and turns out one had moved, but the lady who was in replace of her was nice, she didn't open the door all the way at first just a small little crack, then as we began to ask questions about her and how shes been doing and religion in her life she started to open the door a little more, as we departed she said that next time were in town to stop by and see if we could come in. That was nice to hear because is wasn't a NO! haha.

On Saturday We went out to irricana unfortunately no luck on doors, BUT as we were leaving on our way home we noticed a group of people unloading and loading some trucks and we stopped and asked if they need help, they were sooo relieved and said they would love help. we finished up there and ended up talking to a gentleman there whose brother converted 40 some odd years ago to his wife and their kids have served full time missions. it was pretty awesome to hear someone who wasn't Mormon support and understand and Respect what we do as missionaries. made me smile.  But this week all in all was pretty solid, just need to get Our investigator Ryan back on schedule with his new work and get in and our newer investigator Michelle gets back from Vacation this week so thats going to be exciting!

Zone Conference

Canola field

Tiny frog

The true Elder Martin

Zone Conference was well a Zone Conference if you can remember how yours went. It was just an update really on the rule changes, for instance we can now wear light gray suite coats and Khaki pants. So thats pretty sweet I think. On P-day we played a pretty intense game of ultimate Frisbee and I went for a dive and landed on my wrist pretty hard, so I went and bought a splint yesterday and if it doesnt start to feel less sore by next week I'm going to go get it checked out by the Bishop in 1st ward because hes a doctor. I was pretty peeved at myself because its just such a stupid accident and makes me so mad because now its just a hindrance. Then we played some soccer that was all fun, Elder Miner actually did pretty well in goal, made a couple pretty nice saves.

Studies are going pretty good, ive read through Mathew and half way through Mark and for the BofM im through 1 and 2nd Nephi, Jacob and Enos. Loving every minute of it, just seem to keep on learnin more and more each time I read. I really like what it says in: Mosiah 2:41 41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
I feel that really relates to 2nd Nephi 28:32 32 aWo be unto the Gentiles, saith the Lord God of Hosts! For notwithstanding I shall lengthen out mine arm unto them from day to day, they will deny me; nevertheless, I will be merciful unto them, saith the Lord God, if they will repent and bcome unto me; for mine carm is lengthened out all the day long, saith the Lord God of Hosts.

That both those scriptures I feel go hand in hand that even when people deny him that his arm is still lengthened out unto them and that as we keep his commandments that we are blessed even after people have denied him because of the atonements power he still loves them no matter what. and further on in jacob he quotes what his brother Nephi says as well. just thought that was pretty cool.

We are currently trying to get a less active reactivated this month and it started off good with one coming back to church and she actually got up and bore her testimony and elder miner and I both looked at each other and were like "is that sister Tempany?" it was pretty cool. Elder Miner and I got to stand up and Bare our testimonies it was pretty moving and powerful. Had a lot of members actually compliment me on it so it made me smile. But what was even more awesome is that in that meeting we had a missionary who is going home bare his testimony then a missionary who just got out in the field (me) then a missionary who just got home. and then one who is going out in October all shared their testimonies. Very spiritual Sacrament :) Hope this was a little better and what your looking for..... haha.

still cant believe your comparing me to Kjersti I'm nowhere NEAR her level of awesomeness. and shes a woman, so she just wins on information there hands down... haha.
Love you dad! thanks for all you do and support

Elder Martin

Also quick side not maybe to not much surprise to you but yesterday at Zone Conference Elder Miner and I won the car inspection award for cleanest car :) just thought i would share..... that I know, shocker huh haha

Elder Martin has always been good about taking care of his car..... something he has always loved to do. For those wondering about what he was saying about Kjersti Roberts, she is a Sister Missionary from the Alpine Ward that is Serving in France, I basically copied her last post on her blog and sent it to him telling him to add more details, and that was his response to that email, Sister Roberts link to her website is posted on this blog...  She is doing fantastic also.
